On Art and Things...
Why does summer go so quickly, was it something that you said? 😊
Early Saturday morning, the first day of autumn of the year 2023, I listened to the song producing these very words. The name of the song is Windmills of your Mind (I like the Sting version). It sits as number five on one of my strategically crafted playlists.
As this song began and throughout, I thought of the many irons I currently have in the fire. From pulling seeds, drying flowers, editing videos, my many crafts, fixing and coding numerous glitches on this website, and not having Bible studies ready because of these issues. I also thought of my own professional classes I am creating, getting ready for travels in October, November, December, January, and February, and on and on. And, of my own work, selfcare, writing from the soul, and nurturing beautiful friendships! I can go on! It really has been a lot lately. But with God’s preciousness and thorough poise, I am moving through all of it with the windmill of creative thought-to-action, as my companion.
One of the most memorable moments I recently experienced was with my creative group. We meet about every six weeks to discuss the Bible, poetry, philosophy, music, and general art. The discussions are quite refreshing and offer great intellect— specifically poets such as John Keats, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Claire Clairmont, Lord Bryon, and more, are usually significant highlights. Although we recognize this group of writers to not be perfectly clear on the life God has asked of us to live, in them, we still seek to find Holy Spirit in their brilliant works.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” -Romans 1:20
At this last time together, the prose we discussed was Shelly’s, On Love.
It begins…
“What is love? Ask him who lives what is life; ask him who adores what is God.
I know not the internal constitution of other men, nor even of thine whom I now address. I see that in some external attributes they resemble me, but when, misled by that appearance, I have thought to appeal to something in common and unburthen my inmost soul to them, I have found my language misunderstood, like one in a distant and savage land. The more opportunities they have afforded me for experience, the wider has appeared the interval between us, and to a greater distance have the points of sympathy been withdrawn. With a spirit ill-fitted to sustain such proof, trembling and feeble through its tenderness, I have every where sought, and have found only repulse and disappointment…”
This prose once again ripped our hearts apart. Like an easy puzzle, we pulled out pieces and placed them back into their specific shapes, understanding On Love’s effective meanings on our own paths toward and holding on to sweet love.
For most to really fit into this group, it is known that we are romantics. We see romance— we see love, we intensely feel love, and we see dearness, in most things. It is my thought that these ideas help us to remain grounded, while always grasping at the concept that there is always a possibility, and a new opening of viewing life’s gifts.
Our discussion then led to music, and we all shared how much we enjoy AHI’s song, Full Circle. He is a brilliant artist who we all believe should be given more recognition than he has received.
Here’s the song we all like so much. I’d suggest listening to Cool of the Day too. It is absolutely thought provoking.
Right after our meeting, I then had the pleasure of connecting with a cousin-in-law who is an amazing artist living in Belize. She is now knitting the beautiful bag below for me. She will be presenting it to me on my December trip to Belize.
I’m loved!
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for showing me your benevolence in all things and in the tender people on my sometimes-rocky path of knowing you even more.

God and His son Jesus are so wonderful friends! Their beauty, elegance, and magnificence are with us each day. Let’s remember that the Holy Spirit is represented in everyone, even in people who have chosen different lives than ours. For all people we must consistently pray, encourage, and love.
With all the soft-hearted representations of love I can give.
I’ll be back here soon.
