Many moments before slumber, I often view sweet videos on YouTube (YT). I favor the ones focused on homesteading, food preservation, cottage comfort, woodworking, crafts, living a beautiful life, no-kill animal husbandry, and several others. For some reason, I fancy watching these at night. Sermons or Bible teachings, I prefer to view in the morning or during the day when I need Biblical inspiration and motivation to complete all God has given me to do within an allotted 14-hour time slot.
Last night, I chose to watch two of these videos, and upon completion, a YT suggestion popped up on my telephone. It was a video created by a woman I was introduced to about 10 years ago. This introduction came from a friend who believed I should follow this individual’s teachings. I took my friend’s advice and thought it couldn’t hurt. But within two minutes of the woman’s message, I knew that her focus was primarily on soul ties, twin flame, angel worshipping, and dreams. In my review back to my friend, I politely thanked her for letting me know about this person, and also shared that her teachings were not what I sought.
My encounter last night was different. I had heard that the person in the video no longer taught on such things; therefore, I pressed play. She started speaking with an apology for all the false teachings she delivered, for most of her adult life. You see, in the year 2014, she was saved through a Bible sermon on her radio. I listened to the entire message and was elated for her. Her guest on the show discussed the importance of women to better recognize modern-day false teachers of the Bible. Mostly the guest focused on women Bible teachers. I am not gullible whatsoever, but this reveal, was probably what God thought I needed to hear.
As I move into the complete fulfillment of my own ministry, it is indeed important to stay aware, while continuously repenting for my sins. Not one minister is perfect, and this includes me! Conversely, it is also my thought that I do not need any person to sway me from the life God has for me. Even if teachings come with all the bells and whistles, and the numerous shouts of prosperity! You know… the ones I have dubbed the noisiest!
I think now of Huldah (II Kings 22:14-20, II Chronicles 34:22-23). Huldah was the wife of Shallum, who cared for royal clothing. She served as a counsel for those who wanted to know more about God. Each day she sat in the square waiting to serve others in this manner. Huldah was consulted, instead of Jeremiah, when the last book of the law was discovered. Because of this, her words and deliverance were received by the people of her time. Hilkiah the priest discovered the book of law in the temple, and Josiah the king then asked to see Huldah. In his presence, she testified that everything on the scroll was authentic and prophesied about the ruin of the nation, which was about to come from God. Her prophesy and public reading brought about new life to the people. This resulted in positive reforms and transformations made possible by Josiah! In this new spirit, king Josiah, and the people made a complete commitment to serving and obeying God.
The recognition of what Huldah accomplished made me think back on some of the teachings I have heard in the last six or so years. Now, as I reflect on a few of those presentations, I ask myself…does the Bible really say that? Huldah is a great example of what it takes to know and express the truth of God. Just like most prophets/prophetess’ of the Bible, Huldah shared on the importance of repentance. She did not tell Josiah that he would obtain more followers or that his kingdom would grow! From my complete understanding of personal Bible studies, most prophets and prophetess’, spoke about God’s complete desire for obedience. They first did not speak on personal gains. When one repents, then God gives. This can never be reversed. Friends, please remember that a watchful heart, protects the soul!
I contend that when women/men regain the plain and sometimes hidden truth of God’s words, and make them applicable to life’s situations, beautiful reforms and transformations occur. Like the woman in the video, I discussed above, it is impossible to experience such accomplishments when projected spiritual discipleship is all over the place or just not what is really written and depicted in the Bible. The Bible is consistent. It is fundamental, more so today, than ever. God’s words are always alive!
Recently, I have been conflicted based on my own Christian walk. I was just not certain about some of my choices of the last few years. I felt something was eating at my soul on why it was periodically difficult for me to move forward with some aspects on this journey, and to enjoy some of the hanging fruits on the path. When I did take time to pick the fruits, some were sour and unpalatable. I thought it was because of my careful ways, my overly inquisitive thoughts…But after digging deeper, I am joyful to know why things were just not clear to me. The confusion is no longer. And, I get it now. I know why my core faith resonates in my soul. I know why it must remain. And, I know why recent coincidences, have revealed the reality of my choices, which led to occasional confusion on my walk. For this, I am thankful!
Huldah was the woman who unveiled the truth for a nation. My friend who introduced me to the woman in the video, gave her life to Christ three years ago. She now unveils God’s perfect truth to her family, friends, and acquaintances. I too, am elated for her.
In this Lenten Season, let us recover God’s life in ours. May we recognize the sacrifice Jesus made for us. May we practice humility in all we do, and may we be brave to speak on the veracity of who God really is. When we stick to His words, there is never a place for false teachings delivered through false teachers. In reading His words daily, the realness of God, creates His realness in us!
